Foggy Morning

The weather has changed, it is finally clear, thus cold and night, thus foggy in the morning. I realized yesterday on my way into work I should bring the camera today! And it was worth it!

Last Outdoor Swim at Coosan

Tonight, David from our club brought me and a few club members out on his boat to the other side of the inner lake near the Wineport. Most started swimming there but I got in about halfway as by body gets undercooled quiet quickly and the water temperature is pretty low now. In hindsight a clever thing to do as one of the girls was completely hypothermic when she got out of the water!

It was a beautiful evening and despite the cold we all enjoyed at very much and we had finished with a warm meal by the fire in the re-opened Lough Ree Inn 😁

Repairing the Duck Pond

The Duck pond must have had a leak. The level was too low for the hens to drink from and the duck couldn't really swim in it because it was all just mud! So Douwe and I emptied it and quickly found the damaged area which we repaired. And then we refilled it with clean water. Now, after a few days, it is clear all is fine and the duck can swim (and wash herself) again!

Setanta, Land of Legends Triathlon

As you can se the weather was not great today. I was in Omeath Co. Louth  for an Olympic triathlon. But the swim got cancelled so it became a run-bike-run race. I mainly wanted to see if I could run a race again after month of little running and strength exercises for my ankles. Although I ended very much at the end for the fist 2.5k run, I passed more  then 80 people on the bike! The last 10K went OK and I was only passed out by about 10 people to end at a reasonable 44th position out of 137.

A little of Opa & Oma in Newcastle Forest

It would have been Oma's 84th birthday today. We brought some of both Opa and Oma's ashes with us from Holland and have now scattered it close to where we once all walked together...

This is the spot, this big branch

This was taken at the same spot on Douwe's birthday 10 years ago!

First Autumn Run

Just out for a quick lunchtime run, September 1st is the start of the meteorological autumn and the forest does show some of the signs:
