Pat Colgan Pedal the Peak Challenge

 Great day, 128K, 1060m climbing. Strong on the bike; best climber in my group!

Having motorbike support always make it so much easier and enjoyable, no need to worry about traffic!

Back Running ?

 After weeks of strength building and slow short I finally try a 10K run. Still a little show and careful but at least I can do 10K again and enjoy the forest (what is left of it)

New Toilet

 As part of the utility room renovation we also revamped the adjacent toilet which looks real fancy now!

Training in the Slieve Blooms

 Next week I hope to do the Path Colgan Pedal the Peak challenge in the Slieve Bloom Mountains. So I decide to check what I am able for and go there today. I cycle a shorter distance but do 3 peaks instead of 2 😎 Feeling Strong! And it turn out to be a gorgeous day!

Small Tortoiseshell

 Funny, never knew the name of this beautiful little butterfly. Plenty of them in our meadow today and surprised how well this quick snapshot with my phone turned out.

Bike Cleaning

 Finally put the new carbon back wheel on my TT bike and decide to give both bikes and extra good clean!

Where is my Forest?!

 Hoping to get in a quick spin on the gravelbike in Newcastle forest before the rain, I was shocked by what I found. While I knew Coillte was felling some trees, I was unprepared for the scale of the removal. It seems even parts of the forest that weren't badly damaged by the storm have been cleared. I'd guess about 75% of the forest east of the Inny is now gone. It's a truly depressing sight, and it looks like they're not even finished yet...

Bike-Run-Bike

 Its a very sunny day and I have taken a day leave to make the most of it finishing with a bike-run-bike exercise. I cycle (hard!) to the track for a short run and cycle back home a bit more relaxed. I was tempted to stop at the small pub just after passing the lake on this beautiful evening...

Our Sunday morning club cycle stops for tea and scones in Shannonbridge near Clonmacnoise monastery. I never knew but they claim this is where the oldest record of Whiskey distilling was found. So a good reason to promote a new whiskey from that place, have to try it some day...
